Wynn O'Malley is not a fan of Minnesota summers. Marathon minimum-wage shifts at the Dairy Darling with her boss, Mean Raymond, hanging over her shoulder aren't exactly her idea of a good time. When she hears about a summer pre-college writing program in Delaware, she's all over it. However, the education Wynn gets is anything but what she expects.
Night Swimming was originally part of the Fireworks anthology from Scholastic, where popular author Aimee Friedman happens to be an editor. After reading Royally Crushed Aimee asked Niki if she might be interested in writing a novella about a summertime romance. Niki naturally said yes, and within days, Erin Haft, Sarah Mlynowski, and Lauren Myracle were on board, too.
Funny coincidence: without discussing it, three of the four authors (Niki, Erin, and Lauren) gave their stories titles that are shared with well-known songs.
